FAQ

Can I edit the map on eufy Clean G40 Hybrid+ via the eufy Clean app?
No. The cleaning history only displays the "cleaning area" and "cleaning time" for your reference. It cleans according to the zigzag cleaning method. When cleaning is finished, it will clean the edges and corners by following the edges of the house.
Can the eufy Clean G40 Hybrid+ mop out stubborn stains?
Generally, the mopping mode is designed to be used only on a clean hard floor without carpets or stubborn stains. To achieve optimal mopping results, it’s highly recommended to vacuum the floor two to three times before mopping the floor.
Does the RoboVac dock and empty itself?
Yes. The RoboVac will automatically return to the auto-empty station to empty dust after it finishes cleaning. You can set the number of times for RoboVac to clean before it auto-empties: after 1 clean, after 2 cleans, or after 3 cleans.
Is the dust bag reusable?
The normal and anti-bacterial and deodorizing dust bags are not reusable. New ones can be purchased. The dust bag facilitates up to 60 days of hands-free cleaning. When the bag is full, you will get reminders on the device and app that notify you to replace it.
How to ensure successfully docking.
Make sure to place the Self-empty station in an area with 3.3 feet clear on each side and 6.6 feet in front so that the RoboVac will return to the base successfully, and remember to place the Waterproof pad when you use the Mopping feature or on the carpet.

Great Features!

This vacuum is similar to other more expensive brand name models, just with slightly worse navigation. I don't notice any more dust in my house compared to other vacuums so its vacuuming seems to be on par. This one does have worse app support though. It also seems to get stuck and suck carpets and shoelaces up more frequently. It's thinner than other brands so it can fit under couches and tables and it also empties itself. I like that I don't have to remember to empty it out every few days and only have to do it every few weeks. It's really easy to set up - you just download the app, connect it to your wifi, and put it on the base. I didn't have any problems connecting and it only took about 5 mins. It maps your house after that so you have to let it run and can't move the base or it'll have to re-map the whole house. The mopping function doesn't work very well, but that's similar to other vacuum models. The mop doesn't get very wet and just seems to spread messes around. Overall this is a great vacuum, especially for the price.

OBSESSED WITH THIS THING!!!

The media could not be loaded.

Good vacuum that is very quiet. Does a good job of vacuuming and mopping my ceramic tile floors in the house on a single charge. Very neat to watch it back in and dock! I took away 1 star because it doesn't come with virtual wall barriers that I had to purchase separate. For $500 you shouldn't have to purchase anything else. I must mention that it does work very well with that virtual wall purchase.

No 5G?

This will be our second Eufy. We loved the first one, but it started acting confused all of a sudden and started spinning in place. We love it except for the fact that the app doesn’t work with 5G. LAME! I would’ve given it a 5 otherwise.

Eufy 40+Hybrid VS Roomba i7

The i7 was our 3rd Roomba, we purchased it cause our previous 2yr old roomba after the first yr was never making it back to the charging base and we were always hunting for it.

We have a 2100 sq ft single story, mainly open concept home with tile and cork floors, no carpet, a few small rugs. A 25lb dog that we keep trimmed so although she sheds her coat is one-two inches long. So ours is not a difficult home to vacuume.

We had to set boundaries for the i7 as it would become jammed under cabinet coves in the kitchen and all 3 bathrooms, also under some of our bedroom dressers and it would not make it under our sofas.

Often the roomba would not make it back to the charger and we would need to hunt it down from under some bed or dresser where it's battery had died so even the apps "locate" feature would not work. When it did make it back to the charger it would sit there for days until we realized it had not run because it was not charging. The charging contacts would need to be scrubbed, we had same problem with our last roomba.

It got to the point where we decided this roomba was not doing its job and ready for a very early retirement. I looked at what roomba now had to offer, contemplated the i9 but read the reviews here, they were awful for such an expensive unit, many of the complaints were of the same nature we had for the i7. So I looked and read reviews of other brands.

The Anker Eufy 40+Hybrid
Had many of the i7 and i9 features, good reviews, it was lower profile so it would fit under my cabinets kick coves and maybe my dressers and sofas. It has the mop feature, not something I think I wanted but seemed to be the Eufy 40+ with the added mop feature for a lower price. The Eufy manufacturer Anker is a name brand I have come to respect in quality and value over the past few yrs, so the Eufy 40+ Hybrid was my choice.

I purchased it online at eufy.com new, discounted from $499 to $199 including shipping with 30 day returns (buyer pays return). Took about 1 week to get it. Nice unit, manufacturing and design seem atleast as good as the Roomba's. Had it running every other day for past 2 weeks, seems to vacuume as well as the i7. Has not got stuck and makes it back to the charger and auto empies every time. App is easy peasy, Any errors are spoken out in plain English not codes. It's quite and seems to be quicker. Dose not crash into things like the i7 did. The only negative I have for the Eufy so far is when it returns to the base and empties it speaks out a error "Replace bag, bag full" Well its not, and I've yet to figure out why we're getting this. It still empties fine, so the issue is with the erroneous error msg, nit the operation. I called Eufy support, they in turn sent me a email with questions, I answered but have yet to get a meaningful response and it's been 8 days! Hopefully this is not the customer service I will come to expect. But hey, I'm pleased with the purchase, for just a fraction of the price of the i7 or i9 I think I did better with the Eufy

Can Fit Under Couches

This is a great vacuum. It's a real timesaver. Works good on my Saltillo tile floor; it even works on carpet.

Good product but could be better

Shipment/packaging: The RoboVac unit came very well packaged for shipping, in another slightly larger box, excellent. If you might need to move the unit in your car or pick it up, be prepared for a slightly larger "cube" of a box that may not fit in some car doors, and has a bit of bulk to it. Dimensions 18"x18"x15," weight 12.5kg or abt 28lbs to carry/move in the box. Eufy has all their support info and numbers right on the outside of the box and in manuals etc. They did not hide that.

Unpacking and Setup: Its not too tough but there is a LOT to know to best understand the complete unpacking, assembly and physical setup. I found the user manual and "Quick Start" guide of good quality and well written in English. However I did find the instructions were a bit unclear on their own in understanding what some of the parts to attach are and how. RECOMMENDATION: Do take your time to prepare for the setup process, and visit the RoboVac website to lookup the G40+ Hybrid unit and watch their Unboxing and Setup videos. ALSO do watch the Mop Mode use video. The setup on mopping is the most unusual and knowing what is to be attached underneath and when, the videos will help, especially if this is your first RoboVac or similar (as it was ours).

CLEANING and NAVIGATION: It is pretty impressive what this RoboVac can do as a vacuum. We tested it out several ways as we started letting it learn our carpeted floor (one large furnished room). It made the carpet look nice, and found its way around very well. It managed to avoid falling down our stairs, and on the second pass around the stairs it totally had it figured out, navigating around the top of the stairs perfectly. (The first time it stopped with errors twice, and I just had to move it a bit). If an object was set on the floor, it worked around it very well, but more surprisingly, if we took the obstacle away where it was working the RoboVac went BACK and cleaned the area missed instead of ruling it out. On our hardwood floors room it went under, back out of, and around every piece of furniture AOK, (a complex room) and up onto (and off of and back onto) our flat throw rug, without a hitch. Excellent! (It returned to dock and charge well too). The only "litter" we found it did not do great at picking up was popcorn, and it crushed/spread around some of that once. We feel this is likely a bit of a design limitation on any vacuum of this type. All other floor litter was handled well. On dccking to charge, if on the carpeted area the mopping pad was left attached underneath (had no idea at first) the backing up to re-dock was hindered a bit. We found it necessary to remove that mopping module in carpeted areas (even when empty). Also if the clear plastic floor cover piece they provide is used for the docking station there, the RoboVac could not quite drive onto it, so we set that aside and all was well. (Hard floors it all worked).

MOPPING: To expect such a compact robot unit to mop is a totally new reality to us! It does mop, however this function appears to us as more of an add-on to help DUST a floor, pickup light spots possibly. There is a small water reservoir and mop module with pad to manage underneath. Its nice but we found this to be the most challenging to figure out, as the manuals did not explain much about it and its not super clear. Again watching the website videos FIRST is recommended. I worked only with the manual and quick start guide to test that out. It was a bit of a mystery. How much water its using, or has left in it is also a mystery (its meant to ONLY use water apparently per manual).

Using the APP: The Eufy Clean app is nice and the setup went pretty well ONCE I realized it had trouble with my home WiFi at first. The last setup step was not completing but with no message or errors why. It just said "connected" but the vacuum setup was not finished. After working that out it went great. On MOPPING, the app does not appear to show the actual water level in the vacuum as it runs. We hard and saw no notifications that it needed or was out of water. Maybe we will figure out more, and I was checking the app. But even after I believed I had emptied any water left after the first mopping I did see a little water being laid down the next time it left the charger station a few hours later. A mopping feature is nice - but its use is a bit of a mystery and may not be a huge benefit. It did pickup some dust etc. and the pad showed it though when done.

Impressive cleaning & nav! Super convenient use, noise level decent. Make sure to study up first.

The Eufy Clean G40 Hybrid + is a nice addition to my home cleaning tools. The features, such as mopping and automatic emptying when Eufy docks is a feature that's really important and useful for a product like this!

The unit was easy to setup and the app enables me to control and monitor it's progress. I believe the Eufy is a good value. I’ve owned another more expensive product like this, without the mopping feature, and this is 100 x better.

Highly recommend!

Great for spot checking on carpet

I really did want to like this vacuum. I love robot vacuums and have used 3x different ones. For comparison I have a Roborock S7+ and a irobot J7 both with docks. And I still use them everyday. I have one vacuum on each floor. They are far ahead of this. Here's why.
The eufy requires that you have 3 ft to each side of the base station and then another 6 ft in front of it with no objects. Plus its a little over a foot wide and deep so a bit over 7 ft of wall space and the same 7 foot in front of it with for proper docking. Thats around 50 sq ft of bedroom just for the vacuum. A bit excessive unless you have a pretty large home. My plan for this was in my upstairs to cover bed rooms because its always dirty from kids or under beds. But there either wasn't enough room in front of the vacuum or to the sides because my rooms aren't that big. My master bedroom is around 20x20 but it has beds/dressers/night stands in it. The kids rooms are smaller yet. The space is used. So it won't dock in any of my rooms. Neither the roborock or irobot had issues. I literally had them between the wall and the night stand with around 6 inches on each side. They'd zoom up to their dock and dock. I even have one tucked under a decorative table in my living room to hide it and it works fine. This one goes back and forth for 10-15 minutes and then says "objects blocking". I was able to get a space with roughly 2ft to each side and around 4ft in front and it still couldn't make it. So for testing, I moved a dresser and the bed to get it to fit. And then it'd dock. But it immediately tripped my AFCI outlet. Which neither the irobot or roborock did. And to test, I tried both docks again and they did fine. Just to make sure it wasn't a circuit overload, I disconnect everything on that circuit and it still tripped. I then ran an extension cord from a non AFCI outlet and suddenly it'd be able to work fine. So it won't fit in my area and it won't run off a AFCI outlet (code in newer homes) So the dock is a bit of a bust to me which is one of the requirements when I have a robot vacuum so I don't have to empty it.
Plus its dock requires the usage of bags that it empties in. The roborock I have, I was able to purchase a bag less adapter for it that works great. I couldn't find anything like that for this but I hate getting stuck in a "system" of having to purchase things every few months for them. Not a fan of that.
The vacuum itself's mapping function was pretty basic. Both irobot and roborock have much better mapping functions to the point you could almost use it for a floor plan. This models is rudimentary at best currently. I attached pictures of roborocks and this with the dark one being the eufy.
In terms of cleaning? I've struggled. I haven't managed to complete a job yet in 3x attempts as its battery will run out and it won't dock. And even if you do place it on the dock, if its on, it tries to redock itself and fails. Plus if it docks, it blows the breaker and I'm not home to reset it. The small area's it has cleaned look good. But its supposed to be a set and forget device and it hasn't been able to. Its been a headache.
A lot of this could be improved with firmware updates. For example, ramp up the auto-empty's dock motor slower and run it longer. That wouldn't trigger the AFCI outlet as likely. But I'm not sure if the dock connects to the vacuum to even update its operation. And improvements to the firmware could help with the docking not needing as much space. Eufy hasn't had auto-empty docks for long so I'm hoping its just working out the bugs but right now, its a bust and I can't recommend it. I've tested robot vacuums in beta and these issues should have been worked out prior to release. The lower cost isn't worth the headaches/finicky nature of it. If the updates come and suddenly this thing works like a charm, I'll happily update my review to reflect improvements.
I did rate it 2 stars because eufy does make good vacuums and I've used them in the past with great success. This one disassembles for cleaning/cares easily and can be easily maintained. And if this dock worked fine, I think the vacuum would really be great. But until its docking gets better, its vacuuming is a fail.
Update 1: I was contacted by Eufy and sent a new dock to see if it was a dock related issue. It wasn't. The new one continued to trip my breaker as well. So it wasn't related to the dock. I tempted to take a star away because I've been running the vacuum everyday (dock on a non gfci outlet) and it hasn't managed to complete a full run yet out of every time I've tried. Its gotten stuck on something every time. From under the edge of a sitting couch, to a bath mat, to trapped between things. Not very set and forget. Again, no issues with my other 2 vacuums completing their runs. A very big disappointment as I really had hoped for good things with this as I love Eufy products.
Update 2 10/21/22: So Eufy did a few things.

Base station is a nice upgrade but that’s not worth the price.

Got this model since it was on sale and I was in the market for a vac. The self emptying tower is a nice upgrade but I would have been disappointed if I purchased this at its original $450 price tag. The biggest issue is that it doesn’t save any of mapping it does while cleaning. I’ve not attempted the mopping feature since I can’t zone off areas with carpet and I don’t want to monitor it while it cleans.

It’s alright

I miss some things about our old one. I wish this vacuum had 2 side brushes like our old 25C Max had. I also wish it had an edging option like that one had. This one seems to get sick more often than our old one as well.

The auto empty is AMAZING. The mopping is alright. I mean, you can’t expect too much when it just drags a wet cloth around as it goes…better than nothing though!
